banner A daydream is a meal at which images are eaten. Some of us are gourmets, some gourmands, and a good many take their images precooked out of a can and swallow them down whole, absent-mindedly and with little relish. One man's daydreaming is another man's day.

Greedy Little B…

After getting so irritated with a few customers, I am finally one of the lucky ones who owns a Wii Fit.  I have played it a total of 1 and a half hours now (the game says I have 48 mins of workout time under my belt though).  When you first play Wii Fit, you spend a small chunk of time learning the poses and exercises and this doesn’t count toward your workout time so this is why there is a difference in my actual play time and workout time.

Let me take you back to a week ago when it was released to the public.  I didn’t pre-order (bad me) but it wasn’t a huge deal to me that I have this on the actual release day.  I did go to every place that was selling Wii Fit and to no avail, I was unable to snag a box.  Fry’s Electronics was surprisingly helpful though and let me know the next time they expected to receive shipment.  The nice lady even gave me a business card with the direct phone number to the software department.  How nice of her!  So I called on the day that they were receiving them, and they explained to me that they DID have them in stock and after asking how many they currently had in stock they told me they had 7 left.  Oh happy me!  I will be receiving a copy, right?  WRONG!  I drove over there in about 5-8 minutes and when I arrived to the display of this (game?) there were no more copies left and I watched as an older gentlemen walked away with the last copy.

“You don’t have any more Wii Fit’s?  I just called and you said you had 7 left,” I said
“Oh yeah, that guy just grabbed the last one, and there is a lady who came in here not too long ago that grabbed three copies but she is only supposed to have one because there is a limit of one per customer,” they told me.
So I thought to myself, “Then why didn’t you stop her from taking more than one off the shelf, you little (fill in the blank here with 4 letter word)”
The lady clerk said, “And I think she is sitting in the cafe with them waiting for her friends to come and purchase the other two.”

“WHAT?!”

OK, so I walk over to the cafe and say to the lady, “You need 3 Wii Fits?”
“Well, they are for my friends and they’re coming down here right now to buy them.”

So I rolled my eyes and sighed out an “ooooookaaaaaay…”

I drove all the way back to work since I was on my 30 minute break and as I am halfway back to work I’m thinking about how stupid I am for not thinking to pretend I was a manager of Fry’s.  I was in my uniform for work and I could have passed as an employee of Fry’s.  We all know that THEY weren’t doing THEIR job of preventing customers from taking a highly wanted item off the shelf in bulk.  If I can’t place a hold on the item over the phone, then customers can’t place their own hold on an item in-store either.  Now that I have had a chance to convey my story.  Please prevent yourselves from being one of these stupid customers in the future or else I, acting as a manager, will confiscate your copies and you won’t even know what hit you.

Needless to say, I had an instance of luck because this morning I went to Gamestop and asked if they had any more in stock or had just received them.  The gentleman clerk told me they didn’t have any on the roster for shipment today but I could wait for UPS anyway just in case.  As soon as I walked out the doors thinking I was going to wait for another half hour or more for UPS, the clerk came outside and told me someone just called and cancelled their pre-order of Wii Fit and that he could sell me on of them now. WOOHOO!!  So I am now a proud owner of Wii Fit and won’t know how well it works until I have seen some results.  I will let you know how it goes after I have had some time for it actually to do something to my body.
